"I
took Myles around the first time he stayed out all day. I drove
him to rehab…he got a haircut and he said how much he missed Marin.
So we went to see the ocean. We got burritos and went up Mt. Tam
and watched the sunset. When we got back late to his house, I was
the only one there to lift him up the stairs. After I had lifted
him in the wheelchair three-quarters of the way up, I started laughing.
He started laughing and it was a total funny moment, like…'I'm about
to drop you all the way down the stairs'…it was good to see him
smile and be genuinely happy, like…'At least I'm here, I'm alive…the
rest is irrelevant.'"
